GOVERNOR’S MONTHLY LETTER AUGUST 2026 NUTRISYON AT KALUSUGAN NG BUNTIS ATING PANGALAGAAN By: TLP Sherwin Sobrepeña In celebration of Nutrition Month, the Rotary Club of San Roque, in partnership with Barangay San Roque, successfully conducted a Maternal and Child Health Service Project on July 10, 2026, at Murphy Lying-In. This initiative reaffirmed Rotary’s commitment to building healthier families and stronger communities through meaningful, community-based service. The project aimed to support pregnant women and their families by addressing their nutritional needs and promoting proper maternal and prenatal care. It also sought to raise awareness of healthy pregnancy practices, proper nutrition, and the importance of maternal health in ensuring better outcomes for both mothers and children. This activity aligns with Rotary International’s Maternal and Child Health Area of Focus, recognizing that healthy mothers are essential for thriving communities. Led by President Sherwin Sobrepeña, Past President HCP Carol Bruno, and Immediate Past President UFG Cecile Eduardo, the project brought together Rotary members and Rotary Community Corps (RCC) volunteers for a day dedicated to service and education. The team distributed 40 maternity kits to expectant mothers and provided food packs to 110 beneficiaries, helping families meet their immediate nutritional needs. Educational activities and maternal care sessions were also conducted, offering practical guidance on proper nutrition, prenatal health, personal care, and healthy pregnancy practices. Beyond the material assistance, the project empowered mothers with knowledge they can use throughout their pregnancies and beyond. The maternity kits and food packs provided timely support, while the educational sessions encouraged healthier choices and greater awareness of maternal and child health. Through collaboration with Barangay San Roque, volunteers, and community partners, the Rotary Club of San Roque demonstrated how compassion, education, and collective action can create a lasting impact in the community.
